Downtowns are the heart and soul of a city. To kick off a campaign to better connect with businesses in a new way and create a greater sense of community, the City of Tallapoosa is excited to announce the “Meet Me Downtown Tallapoosa” campaign scheduled for August 19-23.
This campaign aims to showcase the variety of unique businesses that make downtown Tallapoosa a special place to live, work, and play.
Many downtown merchants are participating by providing a discount or promotion that week. The promotions will be updated frequently as new advertisements from merchants come in, so check in on our website and Facebook page often. Participating merchants will display a window cling with the graphic created for the event in their front windows or entrances. Customers purchasing items that week from downtown merchants are entered into a drawing for great prizes donated by local businesses.
In addition, Toole Design, the consultant we hired to create our first-ever downtown master plan, will be in Tallapoosa that week for a week-long design charrette. Charrette is just a fancy way of saying they will be on hand designing and brainstorming with the local community, finding solutions, and narrowing down options for our master plan. Toole Design will set up shop that week at the empty building beside Santa Fe Mexican Restaurant on West Alabama Street. Residents who stop by their pop-up studio will receive five entries into the raffle. Raffle winners will be posted on the city’s Facebook page on Friday, August 23rd.
The city’s “Meet Me Downtown” campaign aims to increase downtown foot traffic and active participation in the master plan process. Join us!
