The following is a summary of key action items taken by the Mayor and Council at the last City Council meeting. The meeting was held at City Hall at 25 East Alabama Street, Tallapoosa.

City Council “Regular” Meeting – July 8, 2024
- Financials and checks over $300 approved.
- Minutes for pre-agenda work session on June 10th approved; minutes for council meeting for June 10th approved with correction on page 1652, paragraph one, changing the word grill to drill. Minutes from June 12th work session approved with corrections. City attorney to follow up on his research on allowable regulations on convenience stores open 24/ in residential areas was added.
- Approved the rezoning request for Tax Map 49, parcel 367 from dual-zoned AP/M-2 to request zone M-2 only. Property is at 120 Golf Course Road.
- Adopted a resolution to go with low bidder Gaines Utility Construction Company, LLC for the Service Line Inventory project. Turnipseed handled the tabulation of the bids received. The contract amount is $84,350.00. The project is paid for by GEFA in a 100% forgivable loan.
- Approved a bid on renovations to the City Hall Annex. Low bidder was Lee Hulsey Construction and the amount was $13,300.00.
- Approved the Sporri Building Renovation additions to Lee Hulsey Construction for $35,000. Renovations are being paid for with ARPA funds
- Approved increase in the workman’s compensation premium. GMA reviewed salaries and adjusted the premium by $9,784.00.
