DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN KICK-OFF MEETING
5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024
Your participation is crucial in creating the first-ever Master Plan for Downtown Tallapoosa. This plan will not only guide future growth and investment but also shape the downtown as a place for you, the existing residents, and our visitors. At the Kick-off Meeting, we will delve into the plan’s goals and objectives, discuss involvement opportunities, and, most importantly, hear your vision for Downtown Tallapoosa.
The Kick-off Meeting, to be held at the Civic and Cultural Arts Center, 245 Robertson Avenue, Tallapoosa, GA 30176, is not just a meeting, it’s your opportunity to directly influence the future of our downtown. You will have a chance to hear a short presentation, ask questions, and engage in guided tabletop discussions with the planning team. Your input is invaluable. Please contact Suzy Montalto at smontalto@tallapoosaga.gov or (770) 574-2345 with any questions.
DOWNTOWN TALLAPOOSA MASTER PLAN
What will the Downtown Master Plan do?
The Downtown Master Plan will serve as a blueprint to direct future growth, investment, tourism, and development in the Downtown area. It will start by creating a future vision for Downtown Tallapoosa that builds on its unique character and identity. The plan will then develop recommendations for new public spaces, transportation projects, development patterns and land uses, and economic development opportunities to improve downtown as a physical place for all people. There will be several opportunities to work with the project team throughout the Downtown planning process: we look forward to working with you!
Timeline
The plan will take several months to complete. The goal is to complete the plan by the winter of 2024. This summer, the planning team will host a weeklong Design Workshop to share findings from their initial research and work alongside residents to create the Downtown Master Plan. Be on the lookout for more information about the Design Workshop!
About the Project Team
The City of Tallapoosa is leading this plan, which is supported by a team of urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers from Toole Design. Funding of the plan was made possible by the Appalachian Regional Commission.
